One afternoon, I got a call inviting me to join WGN Radio’s Your Money Matters to discuss wedding planning during inflation and how to smartly plan a budget without stretching your sanity. Two segments later, I hung up. Not even a minute passed before my phone rang again. I thought it was the station; I was wrong…
“Is this the wedding planner who was just on the radio?”
“It is. Who am I speaking with?”
“I’m Jack.”
“Well, Jack, I’m Diane, and I think there's a song about us.”
From that moment on, the wedding planning started; it turns out that Jack’s daughter, Jackie, had just gotten engaged in Hawaii to Matt. They wanted an iconic, high-glam Chicago wedding. After touring multiple venues, they locked in one full-service spot that bundled the venue, décor, floral, lighting, rentals, and catering under one bold roof.
With a talented cousin handling design, Jackie wove Art Deco architecture into every detail from their invitation suite to a custom border pattern that appeared on signage, stationery, and even the cake.
Like most weddings, surprises showed up late to the party:
a last-minute musical performance from a family friend, and a weather shift that moved the ceremony indoors. In four days, we transformed a plain ballroom into a velvet-draped garden lit by endless candles and overflowing with white florals. Jackie hadn’t pictured it that way, but walking in, she said it felt like magic.
Dinner was a knockout: mixed table shapes, layered designs, and a 24-foot jet-black dance floor with a massive gold mylar monogram center stage. The vibe? Big. Bold. Chicago glam at its finest. Jackie and Matt danced the night away with the people they love most, and we were honored to make it happen.
