Jon Paul asked for Patty’s hand in marriage in Paris, not a bad start to their wedding planning. Patty knew she wanted to have a wedding weekend infused with Chicago as most of their guests were traveling to the “Second City” from literally around the world. We worked Patty from square one, touring venue and hotel options, and decided to set their celebration at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile.
HBIC Weddings walked the entire wedding planning journey with this couple included all printed items, floral, photography, videography, lighting, entertainment, menu development, glam squad, room block management, transportation, for the wedding party, and 150 guests. Leading up to the wedding, we oversaw their guests' experiences that spanned welcome room drop gifts, a hello reception the night before the wedding to a farewell brunch the next day.
On the morning of the wedding, we had hair and makeup in full swing by 7 AM and kept a watchful eye on the Chicago River Bridges as they were going to be up during the prime transportation time for not only the wedding party but about 100 guests too! Everyone arrived at the ceremony at Old St. Patrick’s Church with time to spare. After the “I do’s” were done, the wedding party trolleyed around the city while we transformed the event spaces for their reception. A few family moments were planned, such as a family photograph of over 75 people on a grand staircase to 6 beloved uncles sharing a dance with the Bride. Later on, a jammed-packed dance floor, a cousin dressed as the Note Dame mascot, came charging the ballroom with an oversize school flag as the band the school’s fight song, as a total surprise for the bride.
